To provide high-speed data access and additional storage space, the IEC platform can integrate with multiple product series of storage systems including EonStor GS/GSx/DS series.

In addition to offering additional storage space, the storage device can create private Docker image storage to speed up app deployment. These storage systems also provide complete protection for the stored data.

Prerequisites and Network Configuration

Before adding a storage device, ensure the channel and network environment is properly configured to meet performance and reliability requirements.

1. The device has at least one file-level channel.
2. The device cannot be a member of a scale-out cluster or a HA-service pair.
3. Network Configuration of the device
   • The devices must be on the same network switch as KS.
     • Single Node: KS Host Network vs. GS/GSx/DS Network Channel (GS File Level).
     • Multipath Node: KS Storage Network vs GS/GSx/DS Network Channel (GS File Level).
     • HA Single Node: KS Storage Network vs GS/GSx/DS Network Channel (GS File Level).
     • HA Multipath Node: KS Storage Network vs GS/GSx/DS Network Channel (GS File Level).
   • Default Gateway: Check if the External Storage device uses a private IP address range (e.g., 172.x.x.x). If so, please remove the default gateway from the device's network configuration. This prevents traffic from being routed off the high-speed local network, ensuring lower latency.
   • Jumbo Frames: For improved performance, enable jumbo frames (MTU 9000) on the KS hosts and the external storage.
     • On an EonOne GS, you can enable this setting:
       • Go Settings > Access > Channel & network > Jumbo frames
     • On an EonOne DS, you can enable this setting
       • Go System Settings > Host-Side > Jumbo Frames => Enable
   • Switch Settings: Ensure your switch also has jumbo frames and flow control enabled, which is crucial for high-performance environments.

You can now add a storage device to provide additional storage space for the cluster.

Procedure

1. Go to EonOne for KS > Settings > Storage > External storage.
2. Click on Add storage device button.
3. Specify the Storage management IP address and the password to the device.
4. Click OK.
5. When the addition is completed, click Device management to learn more about the device.
